ABOUT

The Pennell is a Hotel, Cafe & Lounge with Seafood & Steakhouse Lounge in a historic building built in 1906, over 100 years ago.

The lobby floor still maintains its original ceramic floor with its grand staircases.  Here we serve lunch daily Tues-Friday from 11am – 2pm.  On our menu, you’ll find some classics, but be on the look out for something deliciously different daily on the menu as well.

Downstairs, you’ll find our upcoming lounge which is like an old speakeasy.  We also plan to open the downstairs area in the near future.  Expect a high end atmosphere with white linen table cloths, impeccable food & top notch service.

On our second floor, you’ll find our Suites available for nightly or extended stay rental. These apartment-style suites offer all the luxuries of your own home, including a living room, full kitchen and bedroom.

There is also a 3rd floor, which we are undecided with plans for its use.  Stop by for a tour! We’d love to show you around and educate you on the rich history the building holds.

Pictured are The Pennell Owners, Pamela Rushly and Michael Clark. Together they purchased The Pennell in August 2014. At that point, it had been used for corporate offices on the third floor, leaving the rest of the beautiful historic building unseen by the public. Pam and Mike are thrilled to share the beauty of this historic building with the community.

Michael Clark is the 16-year Owner/Operator of the MA Clark Construction LLC, doing commercial & residential general contracting & electric and underground utilities. On top of this, Michael also farms.  His history as former owner of Clark’s Bar & Grill in Harrisonville, MO is giving him the know-how to operate a restaurant and lounge.

Pamela Rushly graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelors of Science degree, History Major with a Minor in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Teaching. She is a former middle school teacher. Pam and Mike have three boys, ages 25, 21 and 16.

Together, they are excited to be sharing this adventure with the Butler and Kansas City Metro community.

A GREAT URBAN HOTEL
